Default Tranny/Differential help

Did my oil change Sunday night, and noticed gear oil sprayed around the pass. side of the engine, closer inspection showed it was leaking around the seal on the output shaft. I got a new seal today ($70 from the dealer), but I don't know if the front differential (which is where its leaking) shares its fluid with the tranny. I can't find any capacity charts for the front diff, but I'm not positive.

So part I is, are they separate?

Part II is, which red line oil would you knowledgeable people recommend?

I was thinking MT-90 for the tranny (and front diff?)
and the 75W90 for the front and/or rear diffs if it is separate from the tranny.

Thoughts/suggestions?

all trans and differential oil up front is shared, suitable replacement oil would be red line mt-90 or motul 75w-90 all around

3qts of red line mt-90 ordered, and one of 75W90. Guess I'll just keep the oil topped off with regular stuff until my oil comes in, and then I'll tear down the car and replace that seal. I guess in the meantime, I should try to get a working copy of the bentley manual. Mines been out of commission for about a year because of some computer screw ups, and bentleypublishers aren't exactly cooperative when it comes to replacing stuff. Told me to burn my own .ISO off their website, but its not working as planned.

I always mean to, but once i get some grease on my hands, im less inclined to want to pick up the camera, and i can never rememeber the 'tricks' i come up with when i get caught in a bind.

If I think of it, I'll try to set up the video camera, and narrate as I go. I can start a nice DIY tech section on my youtube page.

Heres a good vid for the do-it-yourselfer.

make sure you have the right tool for your drain plug... I think in the cars pre-02 they used a hex bit plug and 02-up cars use a weird multi point star bit.

good luck

Yeah, its a standard hex head, I'll cheap out and make my own wrench rather than buy a hex wrench in its 17 or 19mm size, whatever it takes. Its only a few cents for a bolt and nut from the hardware store, and I can put an open end against that. It works out well.
