TT or A3?
Okay I'm a newbie and will probably get flamed for this (new guy) question. Here it goes anyway: I've been in love with the TT for quite some time and I almost lost my stuff when I saw the '08 TT at dealers about two months ago. I drove one last week and am in lust. But I also drove the A3 and liked the peppy engine and extra room. The reason I'm considering either new car is my commute is 80 miles round trip and my V8 truck is sucking gas down. Oh I forgot to mention I have a baby on the way. The baby seat can fit in the back of the TT (I think) and the TT wouldn't be my only car. So I'm looking at the 2.0TT and the 2.0 A3: Am I crazy to even think about the TT and shouldn't I be going the practical new dad route and enjoy an A3?
IF I were you... I'd go with 06 TT or A3. I wouldn't blow the money on a 08 TT if you have a baby on the way. Especially since the 08 TT, while its very pretty and all, just does not have quattro and 6speed manual together in the turbo model. IF you want the tru pleasure and feel of what the TT is... the best you'll get is a Quattro, 6speed 1.8T
If you need a car now and are a true car enthusiast or want to be one get a Mk1 TT or an A3 like he said. The 2.0T on the 2008TT is only available FWD and automatic, both not good for a real sporty car.
The 3.2Quattro has a 6 speed manual, but the non-turbo model isn't as tuneable. If that doesn't concern you, you could go with that.

well the baby thing is tricky... A3 does have the room and is sweet... so its going to come down to a personal choice aka do you want to work hard to get the baby in the car? or not... remember... the baby will grow up and the car will stay the same
(so get a MK1 TT)

Am I wrong or have I not read a few of threads where a good number of folks found the 2.0TT a better deal/more fun than the 3.2TT? It's not a debate for me, while I think the 3.2 is very nice I am not interested in it due to the poor gas mileage the car gets compared to the 2.0.
And it's the 2008 or nada por me in the TT.
Murderface, is that a fact about the car seat? Has anyone tried to put a child seat in the rear of the car? If not I mean the kid really doesn't have to ride in the car

You could go with the 2008... but you'll be getting a half-*** TT either way in my opinion. The 6Speed, Quattro, and Turbo are what make a TT a desirable car... and the 2008 does not have that.
I think some of you are forgetting thatthe new TT has been improved in alot of areas, like the mechanical steering and the magnetic ride and the lighter frame and better suspension and things like that. After driving the new 2.0T and the new 3.2 I am in love with the new 2.0T. The power is better than any other TT 180 or 225 and there is no torque over steer so control is exceptional. If you dont live in an area where there will be snow than you wont need the AWD and this new one really handles alot better. With the S-tronic you have 3 options for driving; normal, sporty or shifting w/o the clutch. Now the AWD is good if you are in areas that ned it but I have never had an issue here in GA where I would have needed AWD. Even if you chip the new 2.0T you will still get a great start and not spin the tires. So for me the new TT is the way to go but it will be a bit of a pain getting the baby in and out but how much will you have the baby in that car?
I agree you can get the 06 TT or A3 cheaper and still have a very reliable carbut for me I like to get my car new and keep it for about 5 yrs then get a new one again. Plus if you buy the 06 from a dealer how much cheaper is it going to be over the newer ones? I would think only a few thousand, so I would rather pay a few extra $$ a month over 5 yrs. and have a new ride that I know no one has abused. The new TT is only about $2000 more now than I paid 5 yrs ago for my new TT and it has improved alot. I will always have a car note but such is life and I like to spend a little of what I work hard for and not put it all into the kids. Gotta live life while you can. But when it comes to $$$$ for a car and a new baby, you gotta think about the baby first unless you have the $$$ for both.
