TT Stereo Safe?
So for those following, I got the instrument Panel back up, windows reset, etc... Final power problem (and I hope there's no more) is the car stereo... As soon as I turn the power on, it says "Safe". None of the other buttons work. It's a TT default CD stereo... Did this happen with anyone else? Fix?
When the power is cut, the OEM HU goes into safe mode and requires a 4 digit code to unlock it. If you have the original books, there should be one for the stereo, and the 4 digit code will have been entered into the appropriate page. instructions for entering the code are also included.
if you don't have the code, you will need to pull the stereo and take it to your local audi dealer. using the radio's serial number, they can retrieve the 4 digit code....for a fee of course.
it's for theft prevention, but it's such a piece of crap, that I doubt that anyone, any where, has ever had their HU stolen.
cheers.

Thanks for the tip, turns out you were right. The thing is I had the original books, but the code was scratched out with another number written next to it. I tried it, it didnt work. I tried the original, it also didn't work. I guess I have to take it to the dealer now
Mine is Knackerd as well, I think in my situation its the amp...I hear cracking and popping coming out of the speakers, I pulled and unplugged the system..waited for a trip inside the Wal_fart and plugged back in and it worked. Now this morn I get nothing, I get power but no CD option, It worked for two days on the highway back from PA and this morning nothing. Crap. If I replace where can I found the wiring harness to plug and play?
Yeah, they do stereo installation. Just was there yesterday, and they told me if I change the stereo, I'll loose the back speakers, including the sub-woofer. Audi's got their own amp and sound system. Too sensitive for my liking.
Nah. doubt crooks know about code, plus it is non-standard in size, so resale value is probably pretty low.
