Default TTRS wheels. Now which tire?

hello there guys and girls.

I just ordered a set of RWC AD74 - 18x8 5x100 35mm offset

These are replicas of the TTRS rims and look like the RS4 old style rims. They retain a OEM look. I need to choose the right tire size for my car now. I am looking at the Falkin Fk- 452 but I am unsure of the size.

I have been suggested to use a 225/40/18 but I wan to here from the boards. Thanks

255 will fit on 8" wheels?

one thing I dont get, why do you decrease the thickness (40 to 35) if you increase the width (225 to 255) and end up with ~the same circumference? does the extra width add thickness by 'folding over'?

First - a disclaimer - the actual size of a tire can vary a surprising amount from manufacturer to manufacturer (and sometimes from model to model within the same manufacturer), so it's best to check the actual specifications of a tire if you think there might be an issue of clearance.

A 225/40/18 is theoretically 225 mm wide and the sidewall is 40% of 225 mm high (90 mm) and fits an 18" rim.

A 255/35/18 is theoretically 255 mm wide and the sidewall is 35% of 255 mm high (89.25 mm) and fits an 18" rim.

So these tires should be less than .75 mm x 2 (sidewall at the top and bottom) different in diameter. 1.5mm is not all that significant in terms of the speed reported by the speedometer.

Still, I didnt think a 255mm wide tire could fit a 8" wide wheel...

I have the stock 18" RS4 wheels and they had 225/40/18 tires but I replaced them with 235/40/18.
