Dunno. They say it'll work, if you trust it, go for it.

To avoid the hassle, I spent the money on the real thing, and went cheap on the computer to run it on!

Just got the laptop tonight, $75, its good enough to use for diagnostics, and to run my Bentley CD. I'm gonna try to integrate it right into the car, maybe gut the glovebox, and put some drawer sliders in so the laptop can slide out of the dash and open.

sounds like a sweet idea, let me know how it works out. I still havn't purchased a VAG com or the bently cd. They are def somethin I plan to purchase. I don't completely understand how the VAG com works, is it just a scanner because my dad has a MAC tools one the displays the engine codes. Also if I have a neuspeed p-chip, what brand vag com can I use? Anything you guys know will be of help because I don't know much when it comes to ecu and engine management upgrades besides what a chip does.

Yeah, that modshack stuff is pretty cool. I'm gonna try to stop by the guys garage (and by garage, I mean, the place attached to his house) and check out his operation. I have some friends in greenville NC, which is where he's from.

If I can do what i plan to with the laptop, I'll document the whole thing with pictures. It'd be really cool if I could seperate teh screen and keyboard halves..... Hmmm, more to think about....

And to answer the vag-com question, http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/index.html heres some screenshots, and some descriptions of what it can do. It's more then just a code reader. For instance, I recoded my central locks so when I hold the unlock button on the key, the windows go down

For sure go with a real Ross-tech Vag-Com. Worth every penny in my opinion. Their customer service is excellent and they spend a lot of time on their development.

Am I right in understanding that the VAG only reads error codes?

I am looking for a device which allows me to change some of the TT's settings like turning off te indicator flash on lock/unlock for example. Any product recommendations?
