ok so im looking to mess aroung with the VAG com and Lemmings software but im wondering if its compatible with any VAG - COM usb cable.

are any of these usable with the ross tech software? also does any have one of these out there. would really appreciate any feedback thanks

Those are only able to use old, outdated ross-tech sw and some cables have worked and others dont. If you want to do right the first time, just get a real cable.

yarg!!!! i wanted to save some $$ so that i can buy more than one thing at once. 250$ USD is steep but at least ill be able to trouble shoot my car.

The tech service is worth having also, you cant use it unless you have a ross-cable and sw.

yea tech supp is awesome. their tech support will help you with the VAG codes? .. just for those who already have it, is there a glossory where i can cross reference codes, names etc so it doesnt seem like im reading german ACHTUNG!!!

They wont give you what the codes mean (vortex is a good source for that) but they will help you if you have problems or want to ask if it can do something. FOr example, if you want to make both doors open with one unlock button, and i believe you can do that.

oh ok, they will instruct you on how to programme things using the vag com and their software.

i think thats what you mean

i bought an ebay cable just to check codes... works for that and thats about it... lemmiwinks works as well but i wish i had the full version of vag... i can check and clear codes which to me was worth the 30 but i miss not having the full version

"Lemmings" properly known as "Lemmiwinks" won't work with a USB interface it needs serial. Fortunately Unitronic came out with software that is the exact same thing only it works with USB.
