The Value of Straightpipes
Did you know that since our cars are fitted with turbochargers that we don't have to spend 600-1000 dollars on expensive aftermarket exhaust?
Infact due to the backpressure created by the turbocharger( along with it's handy muffling effect) you can effectly run cat-back straight pipes and be only
a hair louder than a borla or blueflame exhaust kit? well i know that... that's why i spent 250 dollars on my exhaust system... not 850. think about this the next time you consider blueflame/borla/gtt because my car isnt that loud at all.

i found a borla for 630 free shipping, and im prob going to hollow out the resonator and have another shop possibly make me a downpipe with some high flow cats(gotta look into it more bc of nys inspection)
the reason your exhaust is so cheap is because it isn't t-304 stainless, thats why these large company exhaust are more expensive, and also for the nice looking exhaust tips and work that goes into that.

He COULD have a stainless exhaust for $250...

3" 304 stainless, 6 foot length, $100. Exhaust guy down the road would probably bend it for me for $30. And Im a welder, so I could add hangers and whatnot myself. I could go straight pipes for probably $150.

oh yeah, you don't necissarily want to go 3", bigger doesn't always mean better, turbo engines do have to have the right amount of back pressure, but if you plan on going big turbo, 3" would prob be the way to go.
You possibly burn your exhaust valves because you're sucking out possibly still burning fuel, and/or part of your fresh intake charge (which also means you lose a little power). Think its really only a problem at high revs, and I would guess pushing an exhaust turbine would be enough backpressure to to worry about it.
Oh, and technically anything over 90 Decibles isn't legal in NYS, which (I think) puts alot of stuff in the illegal catagory. I think I'm gonna find a way to easily/accurately/cheaply test sound levels.
I'm gonna really start to push it with the cops around here, for starters im running w/o the front plate in a town with hardass cops that will harass you for anything, and I have the intention of building my own custom exhaust.
Right now my euro plate insert is white primer btw, I'm gonna practice up with the paint gun this week, and paint my FK diffuser, the bondo'd dents from other peoples lisence plates in my rear bumper, and the front plate insert, hopefully this weekend. Someones gonna need to p'shop my sig again for me and remove it, or I'll have to wait until H2Oi 2006 in sept, and take another beach shot.
As for the rolled tips.... I'll have to work on that..... : )
