just get an apexi or greddy if you want a tt. I had a apexi one (on a differnt car) and it worked great. You have to bypass the immobilize in your install also. The install is a little more invovled on a vw/audi than in most cars. But it can be done.
The way I look at it is: the 180 TT's didn't come with a timer for a reason. I know you're doing the APR upgrade, but it shouldn't run the turbo that much harder that you have to worry about the oil coking up in the lines.
It's good to get yourself in the habbit of letting the car idlea bit before shutting it off after a hard run anyway.
I typically just use the time on my CD player to count 30-60 seconds before shutting the car off after some serious pedal mashing. Save your money for some other upgrade for the time being.
My $0.02

Is a turbo timer worth it, depends. If you are will to take the time and install it right and then its worth it, not to have to sit in your car the extra time. Plus it is always nice to watch peoples faces while you walk away from your car and its still running. People use to go "Ahh your car is still runnin'" and i just reply, "its almost out of gas so it will turn of soon."
