Default What kind of oil?

Hi guys,

This is a totally newbie question. I got this alert in my TT that the oil level is low and since it is my first car I have no idea what kind of oil I need to put in my TT. I have a 2002 TT 225 quatro.

Which ones are the best on the market and which ones do you recommend putting when I go this weekend for oil change?

Apologies if it seems a stupid question.

Thanks, Chris

If you have a light on don't drive at alluntil you fill it.

Definitely do not wait until this weekend.

WishIWasRWD I came to work and tomorrow I need to get back home to replace the oil which is 55 miles away. Do you recon I should visit a gas station and get some oil just for now until I replace it over the weekend?

Although this reply is probably too late, you can put any oil in 5w -30 or 5w -40 since you don't know what is in there anyway.

If you're getting the oil changed this weekend it will be better than nothing. If that light is on you are probablyalready below safe operating capacity of oil.

I will go in a petrol station and get some oil to compensate so I can return home and do 300-400 miles more until the weekend when I am taking for oil change.

The reply you gave is not late and thanks for taking the time to reply. The car is sitting in a car park for the past couple of days but tomorrow I am going back home so I need it to be ok and not have any problems with the turbo or the engine.

Apart from Mobile 1 any other good brands (in case they don't have it in the petrol station)

Thanks again,
Chris.

Sorry forgot to put it in the previous post.

What are these numbers 5w or 0w and the numbers following these like 30 or 40?

I made some research and it seems that Prolife 5w-30 Fully Synthetic Oil is developed specially for VAG cars. Might be wrong but I thought I should mention it
