Default What size intercooler fits our 1.8T?

I dont know if my friend got ripped off for his money or if he was smart but he bought an intercooler from ebay ... after i recommended tcarbon (although I dont have one yet) im still broke from the water/meth injection. But anyways the size was 27x10x2.5 but the height, when we were trying to install it was too big downward cause it almost touches the floor... or maybe we are just putting hte piping all wrong idk ..

are there significant gains in hp in fmic?
would the stock one be able to do the same, couple with misting?

You wont heatsoak a decent sized fmic, but it still needs to be correctly sized so you dontlose pressure/addlagalso. The stock one is fine if you do w/m injection and not mist, but you have a flow restriction if you go with a larger turbo.

So with the water/meth injection, you gain HP by being able to tweak the timing? Does doing the w/m injection and not tweaking the timing still give you any gains? Like maybe keeping the temps down so as not to lose HP from heat soak? How long would the w/m last before you would need to refill? And if the w/m runs out before you can add some more does it cause the engine to run bad? Might sound like some stupid questions but not sure of the answers. Thanks.

So with the water/meth injection, you gain HP by being able to tweak the timing? Yes, and lower intake temps
Does doing the w/m injection and not tweaking the timing still give you any gains? Yes, lower iat and you wont pull timing like it will with tohigh of iat or lower octane gas (runs like 100+oct)
Like maybe keeping the temps down so as not to lose HP from heat soak? Exactly
How long would the w/m last before you would need to refill? Depends on the resivour you use and amount you inject. If you use your ww fluid res, should last two fill ups
And if the w/m runs out before you can add some more does it cause the engine to run bad? No, just goes back to pulling timing.
Might sound like some stupid questions but not sure of the answers. Thanks. Not stupid, just trying to get more indepth answers. There is tons more info if you want it.

Thanks, that sounds cool, With the GIAC chip on the 2.0T and the 100 degree temps here Im sure Im heak soaking my stock IC. What HP gains would I see if I dont adjust timing? We run 93 octane here. And would it still be benificial in winter time where the temps get to about 30 - 40? So what does pulling timing do? Thanks again.

The stock 2.0T ic is almost as big as your radiator, it should be able to atleast handle a stock chip. Without touching anything and still running a 93 program, maybe 5-10hp. With adjustments or a race gas file you should see 20hp over just the 93 chip. It would still be benifical in winter if you want to keep the octane rating up and still be able to cool below ambient temps.

Timing pull means that you are prgrammed to run sa 7* of timing advance and since your iat's are to high, it pulls it back down to say a more concervative 4* of advance. But if you add w/m inj, you reduce knock and lower iat's and it wont pull it from 7* and may even more it up to 9*. And if you adjust timing you could increase timing till it gets pulled again to for ex. 12* so you would increase hp that way also.
