Default Whats up with the Quattro

Does anyone's elses tires chirp and squeel and carry on all of the time. I had AWD with my Talon and a Subaru Impreza, and they grabbed all of the time. The TT goes crazy, especially if there is a little rain. I pull out from a stop and thr traction control light starts flashing. The tires are brand new. Even when it iis dry, if I launch it just a bit, I hear tires chirping. I launched my Talon at 5k with crappy tires and it either hooked up or spun all four. Anyone know where I can look to learn more about the AWD in the Audi or explain what is going on with it, it is so annoying when you just want to drive the car and the car is driving you. If this is how it acts in rain, I am screwed for winter.

That doesn't sound right. I've never had problems with Quattro as you have described. However, the ESP system is tied to the ABS, you may have a wheel sensor that isn't working. The longitudinal and lateral sensors are also known to fail. You need to get a copy of VAG-COM to read the codes that are stored.

The TT uses a Haldex (Hydraulic) system unlike the rest of the Audi line that uses Torsen (mechanical). For more information on how Haldex works, take a look at the Haldex website.

Also try disengaging the ESP and drive without it and see if that cures the problem. In snow that would definately be a serious issue. [:-]
