Default Whats your view on a blow off valve

Hey guys,

I have a 2000 TT, 180HP. It's a fun car..and im new to it...but I would really like the sound of a blow off valve....not loud...not riced...just a slight little...hisss... here and there... plus i've read that it gives your turbo better air/preformance ...gaining HP...this true?

Thanks guys.

Audi's don't use a BOV, we need to use a Diverter Valve. Because the valve occurs past the point of measurement by the MAF, dumping air back to atmosphere will overtime generate a rich fuel condition. Go with a Forge 007 DV.

The better performance comes from the fact that the stock Bosch DV has a rubber diaphram that wears out and causes a leak through condition. When you go to a chip the boost pressure goes up and the stock valves can sometimes have trouble holding that back.

If you want a whoosh sound, you'll have to make that with your mouth instead. [8D]

XCLR8TT, are those headlight covers or shades over your headlights or are those inside the headlight itself? They look really good, I would like to put them on my silver TT. Where did you get them? And do they resrict the headlights at all?

Do a search for headlight mods, if not here, go on audiworld.

Most BOVs actually make the car run like garbage; the rich condition is not unique to Audis, it is fairly common for a BOV. (I'm not talking about high quality, high performance installations, that's different).

I disassembled the headlights and painted the surround to match the body. It's not too tough to do, just time consuming. I did it in conjunction with installing the RISO clear corners and reflector removal. You remove the headlight assembly and place it in a 200 degree oven to soften the glue. I did it over a weekend.

Here are a couple of FOTKI step by step photos.

If you do go the BOV route, I would stick with the GFB Hybrid diverter valve. It does both, recirculates plus vents it in the atmosphere. I ran it on my Gti for 4 years and never had trouble.

I've got one too. I am curretly ordering the plug set that will let me go to a full plumback and keep the valve.
