Go to the MkIV FAQ on Vortex and check the polished valve cover/intake part that should give you good instructions how to polish.

 

its not hard to do...just a lot of time. i took the easier way and painted it with high temp semi gloss engine paint. keeps the temps down a little and looks cool as hell. also did the valve cover and soon will be doing the intake manifold. if you go the paint route then go to your local napa and get some etching primer and the 500degree semi gloss engine paint...

Start with 80 - 200 - 400 - 600 - 800 - 1000 - 1200 - 1500 and then polish it.
