Default whoops hit a curb last night in the snow

so.... slid sideways into a curb going a couple miles an hour (accident) the entire right side hit at the same time and i thought everything was fine at first until i got back on the hwy i noticed my steering wheel is now cocked at a 45 degree angle to the right....

obviously i need an alignment BUT what else did i break in the process and any guess how much its going to cost?

thnx

Could be bent control arms, bent rims, and/or more, depending on how fast you were going. You'll find out when you go for alignment. My biggest concern, and you'd probably only encounter this if you hit hard enough to make obvious damage, is driving the axle shaft into the trans or differential. Thats extreme though. Do your wheels look off camber by eye?

good luck with it, hopefully just an alignment will set you right again.

I hit a curb new years eve when avoiding an accident and did quite a lot of damage. My rim was bent, allignement thrown to hell, and I bent my lower control arm which was a decent amout to fix. The most obvious way to tell if there is anything warped, bent, or broken is to use a tape measure and make sure your tire is centered in the wheel well. If the measurment is not the same on both sides then something is wrong.

Good luck!!

Whoa... you said you hit the curb doing "only a couple miles an hour" I seriously doubt that bent the frame. It takes a serious hit to bend a frame and sliding into a curb there are a whole lot of other things that will break before the frame bends. Was the Carfax on the car clean when you got it?

title was clean when i got it ....just scares me cause the vw dealer (no audi locally here) said they thought the frame was bent but they didnt look at it yet.... i thought it sounded funny as well if i bent the frame im sure my cheap aftermarket wheels wouldve been scratched or bent... the car run perfectly down the road yet and still goes in a straight line when i let go of the wheel so a bent frame to me seems extreme but if it is bent im screwed lol

so its a bent control arm and the wheel is bent i guess so its going to be about 500 parts labor plus the cost of the wheel
