F*ckin do it. Just do it. Don't insult him by lowballing. Just give him a preliminary offer (2500) and if he won't take it, just give him what he wants, because you'll never find a better deal. Install it yourself, even though you probably have to drill and tap a hole into the crankcase, since your car is NA.
And you can mos def sell it to an enthusiast for a reasonable price when you want to move on. Just because your mom wouldn't pay more for a supercharged car doesn't mean no one will.
