but I think everyone needs to get there head outta the clouds and possibly realize that the 2.8 might be the way to go all around...

i dont think you can throw down 300awhp reliably with a 1.8t and 4 grand, sorry but i just dont think so... the clutch would get fried instantly so theres at least 600 bucks if you buy smart and install smart..
the turbo itself is a grip of money plus intercooler, injectors, fuel pump, tuning, and hoping that when its all done your transmission doesnt blow and you have no boost leaks..

GT2871R kit- $1600
Unitronic chip- $900
Injectors- $200
TT MAF housing- $30
fmic- ~$800
Total- $3530
The clutch would go out with 240awhp also.

its all gravy i just gotta back up my 2.8, but the 1.8 does have more options to do i will admit, but the 2.8 supercharged has amazing reviews about reliability and such.

People are pushing over 550awhp on the tranny without them blowing up and throwing shrapnel into the passenger compartment, killing everyone inside.
Yea, buck for buck. 1.8t is the way to go. BuT.Theres no replacment, for displacment, a fully maxed out 1.8T lets say 550awhp. still a 4 cyl. 1800cc roughly. Vs a FULLY built 2.8. Im willing to bet. IF you had the doe stack. The 2.8 would max at 700+hp. Take a look at the work EIP did with the VR6 2.8 12v. 600+hp all day long. Ill stick with my 1.8T an mod, tell I hit the lotto. Then ill buy a 2.8 and throw $20k in it
The problem with the 2.8 vs the VR6 is that there's no room in the engine bay in the 2.8. If I were going to mod a 2.8l, I'd be throwing in a VR6. More room and there's plenty of aftermarket parts already out there.

Ateurv8, you know you want a 1.8t. Stop trying to convince yourself otherwise. If there were an award for the person that wished they had a 1.8t instead of a 2.8 most, youd get it. Dont fight it man, its natural.
