Default =Help Please: Boost Controller+Intake=

i have a 2001 a4 1.8tq tranny and so far i have done:

18" racehart wheels
6000K HIDs
S4 springs
Konis sports shock absorbers

And i am planning on getting a borla exhaust, carbonio intake and a boost controller.

Then after i save more money, i'm planning on getting a new dv and getting the car chipped withan APRchip.

but i don't know which brand i should choose for my boost controller. my good friend says he uses turbo xs but he used to drive a wrx and now an evo. so i was wondering what boost controller i need to get for an audi...

Also this guy that i go to get my car serviced says that i shouldn't really get a cold air intake. is there any specific reason?

Thanks

intakes only add sound, not power on the 1.8t. Also dont bother with a mbc until you have a chip. Skip both and get a chip first. Then get a turboxs hpbc

a bleed style is sopost to be best, Turbo XS is an example. but if you search it has been covered numerous times. sounds like you havea solid list of mods so far

the hpbc has both a bleed and ball&spring. the bleed smooths out the boost onset and on a small turbo, it helps greatly

thanks guys. and yeah i'll try to search more next time.
but what does hpbc stand for? i tried to google hpbc but there are so much crap that comes up i don't know which one is the one i'm looking for.

i guess i'm gonna get a borla catback exhaust and a testpipe first. and then a chip. but is it true that i need to get am aftermarketdv when i get the car chipped?

hpbc = high performance boost controller.

Dont get the 2.25" borla catback, its basically stock diam. You need atleast a 2.5". No you dont need a dv when chipped. The stock one will fail eventually so it will need replaced when it fails.

In all honestly, get the chip first before anything else. It will give the biggest gain then a turbo back exhaust.

thanks again.

so is high performance boost controller a brand name or should i get like a hpbc from turbo xs or something?

and do you have any recommendation for the exhaust?

the reason i wanted to get stuff done before getting chipped was because i heard that once i get a chip, i need to keep getting it updated when i get a new mod, such as an aftermarket exhaust. that's why i was gonna do other mods before getting it chipped.

the hpbc is from turboxs, like i have already said in my first post [:@]

Who is feeding you this info? The ecu adapts to changes, no need for updates. repeats self once again, chip first then a turbo back. Techtonics make a 2.5" with borla muffler.

nope, the chip will adjust to your mods, so no worries there.

Theres some good systems out there. Techtonics is a good 2.5" system, Miltek 2.75", and a lot of people go custom turbo back exhaust ranging from 2.5 - 3" .
