01 Audi A4 1.8t Quattro - Sounds terrible
You gotta admit it's disconcerting when you see people responding almost immediately about stuff that has to do with modifications and other crap.. and yes it's a pressing issue now, because the noise is affecting performance, NOT a heat shield or something else like I thought it was.. Not being a mechanic myself, I let my brother listen to it after he got back from Iraq..
As for post numbers.. I know absolutely jack about these cars, and couldn't and wouldn't even begin to think I know something with any certainty to be able to answer for someone else..
All your answers are appreciated and none of them were really all that difficult to come up with were they?

? am confuse lol
Long story short, I owned a chevy diesel that blew a pump mounted injection module, and before throwing a bunch of money out to shops to figure out what was going on, I started researching online.. Came across a forum called dieselplace.com with their help we were able to get to about a 90% certain diagnosis, and then confirmed that with a guy my brother later found out works on them to be the problem. SO.. when he asked me to go online and look for valve adjustment specs/order I started looking around for them.. Couldn't find any, and when I told him that every search says that they're not adjustable, and it keeps pointing to audiforums.com and mentions of the CCT.. So he asked me to post on here and find out what parts are needed and if there's a guide to doing the procedure somewhere...
I'm not asking anybody to bend over backwards or anything, just tell me what parts are needed and give me a weblink or point me in the right direction to find a DIY guide.. That's what irked me about it in the first place.. Yet there's people who are asking about modifications and all that crap getting 15-20 replies in the first 10 minutes after posting...
and yes.. since I had the diesel truck for 6 years, I learned a lot about it, and did post in the forums helping people who had problems with symptoms that I'd experienced and offered up the advice on possibilities and/or fix it procedures.. including taking pictures of and posting a step by step guide to replacing both heads, headgaskets, headbolts, all 8 glowplugs, oil cooler lines, A/C compressor, belt tensioner pulley, alternator, starter, and even an issue where the transmission connection got a little dirty and wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. So as I learn more and more about the audi, yes, I will post more. but I find it best not to give advice when I don't know jack

and by the way, your issues compliment one another. the cct operates off of oil pressure. when it has been starving for pressure for so long, it will go bad. your pickup tube has progressively been getting more and more clogged, leading to a lack of pressure over time.
