I'm looking at a 1997 2.8L quattro for sale but there are some issues with the transmission. To avoid taking it apart to find the broken parts I found a really cheap transmission for a 1.8L turbo. I was talking with someone about it and they thought there was a good possibility that Audi just used the same transmissions, but he wasn't sure about this particular model. Does anyone know if the two transmissions would be interchangeable? Thanks.

 

yes, they have different gear ratios though. the 2.8 will do better on the highway, but it will also make the car slower from take off.
