Default 1.8T downpipe - oem or Bosal

I have to replace the downpipe on my 2001 A4 1.8T because the flex joint is broken and leaking. Does anyone have any opinions on the oem vs the Bosal downpipe? Or is there a better replacement?

the cheaper option is going to muffler man and have them weld in a new joint. unless your looking at upgrading the rest sometime soon, this might be the best option.

i had the same problem, got a bosal from amazon.com for just under $90 shipped. not sure about OEM, but there are a few aftermarket pipes that all seem pretty good (but unfortunately are all at least 2-3 times more expensive)

How was the Bosal compared to stock? Was it the same or better quality? Was it the same or larger size?

If your willing to pay a bit more (250$), check for the Labree downpipe ... great product

I hope it is larger because the stock DP is a whole 1.75" vs 2-2.25" for the rest of the exhaust.

Will a larger downpipe offer any advantages in conjuction with the stock exhaust?

same size. its an OEM replacement (like one you'd get from an auto parts store).

it seems to be of good quality. my stock pipe was rusted to **** and the flex was 95% broken when i bought it so i really cant compare. i can get some pics of it on the car in a few minutes if you want

Thanks for the offer, but I don't need any photo's. I just wanted to know if it was equal to the stock piece in size & quality. It would be nice if it were a bit larger, but I have stock exhaust anyway.
