Hello, I just purchased a 1999 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T. I tried searching for this but didn't have any luck. I noticed today when I popped the hood that there is a little bit of engine noise. Someone told me that this was perfectly normal due to the hydralic lifters but I would like to get some other opinions. . .anything will help.

Yeah when I get home tonight I will upload a sound clip. It doesn't sound bad but I want to be safe. If something need attention I want to get it that attention.

 

You mean a ticking sound right? Can you record the sound and post it?

 

yea dude as soon as you get that clip up im sure one of us will let u know if its normal or not....

 

if its ticking quietly dont worry about it, they all do it. if the tick is louder, check your oil.

Also you can't even really hear it when the hood is closed

 

Also the engine oil was just changed <300 miles ago with Synthetic 0-10w

 

wow i cant imagine having phone calls with that low quality of sound...

 

Yeah tell me about it. It is really horrible. . .I hate the phone
