Default 1996 quattro 2.8 12v with 200,xxx miles

Hey guys, I'm a newbie here and I just bought my first audi a couple weeks ago. I will have more pics to come once I get it up in the air only have 2 pics here.

The car has a transmission with 120k on it and a brand new replacement clutch and flywheel. Original motor with 202,000!

ST Coilovers, CAI, magnaflow cat back, short throw, s4 6 spoke wheels, and im sure more mods once I start to dig deep.

Iv got some minor plans for it but mainly focusing on keeping it running. This is my first AUDI iv had 2 maximas, sentra, and yamaha yzf before this. Kinda new the whole quattro thing but the car drives like a dream.

Im guessing that at least one of the previous owners where probably a member of this site or a similar siite. I believe the car originally came from NH but i bought it in RI

The timing belt has been done twice so I should be OK with that for a little while but I think that it should be replaced with the water pump at 240,000 if I still have it at that time to be save.

Has s4 seats, and slotted rotors.

It needs some front end work, I just got a nice fat Rejection sticker kinda caught me by surprise, Im already reading up on a control arm / tie rod end tutorial and looks kinda like a PITA. Alot easier on my maxima but hey, a4>maxima

Also, do I need a minimum number of posts before I can embed a picture? I tried the [IMG][/IMG] with a host but it didnt show.

Do yourself a favor and and go over every rubber bushing in the suspension. Mines don't matter as much as age on these parts. Better to change what seems worn before it strands you somewhere. Not all maintenance is motor related.

I'm putting it on the lift at work this friday so I can go through the front end and start ordering parts. Im still getting use to how low the suspension is right now, I bottomed out a couple times in boston over the weekend which kinda worries me, Now it sounds like I have a bit of an exhaust leak

I have another car so this Audi wont be my daily. It looks like someone stole the angle eyes at one point because you can see the damage to the front fenders and the hood got little banged up too. I just put 400 dollars into repainting the rear bumper and taking a dent out of the truck lid so if i could get the front end patched up for a similar price i would probly go for it.

Any input would help, im learning more about this car everyday.

The headlights kind of bounce around alittle bit but im not to concered about that, I do need to replace the CAI with either a pop charger or stock air box.

Is there anyway to find out of the ECU has been "adjusted"

Dont know if that is the right term but this car as kinda been hacked up so who knows what else has been done to this, its pretty fast but my 98 5speed maxima would have owned it (on a dry day)

FCP Groton has good deals on control arm kits.

The ECU is stock - there aren't any ECU tuning options for the 12v. Car looks great, someone took very good care of it from the looks. My concern - how many miles are on the current timing system? You say you should be good to 240k but the math isn't adding up. I wouldn't go more than 70k max on any timing system, it's simply not worth the risk. Get a kit from FCP Groton when you order your control arms and plan on doing it sooner rather than later.

Love seeing the reference to a POP charger (you can always tell the Nissan guys who are/were JWT customers lol - I ran the twin POP on my 300ZX back in my Nissan days ).

I was thinking 90k on the timing. I bought the car from a good friend so I will see if he can dig into this and find out how many miles where on the car on the last timing belt job.

So you cant "chip" the 12v's?

I hear that these motors tend to develop sludge and a tick, anyone experience this?
