1997 Audi A4 1.8t Lean Run... Need Help
HI i have been dealing with this problem since i have gotten the car... i blew the motor up a year ago and i rebuilt and replaced it. the cause of failure was lean running. it melted a piston and i replaced all the parts i can.. i just don't know where to turn next i don't have the code for the lean running code right now but it is lean running bank 1 for sure. i've replaced the fuel filter, MAF, Spark plugs and i am running 2.0t coils and conversion kit from 3zero3 motorsports. the car never misses a beat when its running... smooth as ever and it reads 17 psi boost. i don't know what could be causing the car to overboost but there isn't a code for overboosting and it runs very well. i'm just afraid i'm going to blow up the engine for a second time... any suggestions will help guys its really mind boggling
Are you running a chip? You shouldn't be hitting anywhere close to 17psi without one. This might be obvious but have you replaced your first oxygen sensor? If you have, I would take out all your fuel injectors and clean them really well, as well as replacing the tiny filters in them.
yes i have o2 sensor ordered... and no this one is a differant audi than in my sig... i hope this fixes it ive rebuilt my whole motor because of lean running and replaced a billion and one sencers so far and am just fed up of dealing with this for over a year now
