Default 1998 a4 1.8t FWD manual boost controller

Ok guys so I just got a turbo xs mbc from my buddy today, and I am wondering first of all what is the safest boost setting for my car on 100% stock, and if I absolutely need to chip it out to use this mbc? I can get my car chip tuned for like 125 now from speedtuning so all I need to do is convince my dad that my car wont blow up!

I have a buddy with a newer 1.8T GTI and I think he runs 20 PSI.

The general consensus around here is that manual boost controllers are a bad idea. Especially when everything is stock. Just go for the Speedtuning chip. That will raise the boost itself, and it will raise it enough to give you more power, but wont endanger the engine.

changing boost settings on stock software is a great way to run lean and blow up your car. get a chip and leave the MBC in your garage.
