Hi Guys

I bought my first audi last sunday and tuesday went to the DMV to register etc. When i came out of the office i saw my car's was hit from the back in the parking lot. Surprisingly there is no damage in the back but, my car hit the car in front and there is a 10 inch diameter dent in the front bumper cover and the driver side headlight glass is broken but the bulbs and everything else is intact. If you look at my signature, the light that is showing there and the bumper cover under it is what i am talking about. Its a minor thing but it hurts so bad because the car is flawless. Not even a single scratch. Cops are working to get the person's information. I have a couple of questions about fixing

1. Do i need to change the whole headlight assembly or will i be able to find just the cover glass and put it in ?
2. The front bumper cover is about $800 - do you think the insurance guys will replace it for one dent ?

Thanks guys! i was suspecting that. Could you please tell me how much each headlight costs ? I don't know if it makes a difference but these are xenon lamps. Just searching randomly i found one headlight for $340 something.

 

I was hit, and they were just replacing all damaged parts, no repairs.

Instead, I pocketed the cash, found a bumper for 50, and used the 950 left on preventative maitnence

Edit: Hop on craigslist or vortex and look for partouts. Usually you can get things very cheap

 

is it 2 piece, 1 piece? If 1 piece, I'd go to ebay and upgrade both with HID, clear corners. They are like $240++shipping for the set.

 

Bumper for $50 ?? let me try that.


@vgo : What do you mean if its 2 piece or 1 piece ? i am not sure, i will take a picture of the broken thing later today and will post here.

 

There are a couple of different styles of headlamps that came on the A4's. The older style "reflector" housings were 2 piece, while the newer "projector" housings are 1 piece.

You should have the older style because the change to the projector housings didn't happen til the 99.5 model. But, since you said the lamps are Xenon, that makes me wonder whether you have after market housings with HID bulbs and ballasts.

Also the little cap looking thing also came off. I am not sure what is under there but .... !!

The little cap thingie that came off,is your head light sprayer cover,it sprays windshield fluid on the lights as to clean them.

Sorry about the accident,i feel your pain,she now has a battle scare
