1999 A4 Block Swap S4

I am planning on taking a S4 block with 38,000 miles on it and dropping it into my car in replacement of my A4 block with 163,000 miles on it. I would use the S4 block and put the A4 2.8 heads on top with the PES supercharger on top of that. I'm going to get a full intercooler for the front of the car and tune it to boost real hard. What does anyone think of that? Any advice?

get the s4 harness wire it all up and get maestro for the 2.7

Better idea: sell a4, buy s4, don't waste time and money to make something slower.

The S4 Harness Bar will fit the motor straight into my car, or will there be extra fab to anything? I was figuring I'd bring it to get it tuned, you recommend I get a maestro for the setup?

If I put the S4 block in I could boost at 20 psi atleast and be all set. Right now I can't boost much because I will blow the thing. I figure it will be much quicker after the swap, much more reliable also. I can't get a good view on what you are saying with only the point of it being slower. I want to know what the best thing to do is, so help me out and throw me some more info

My point is it will not be cheap or easy to do. B5 s4's can be had for pretty cheap now as they're 13 years old. Buying an s4 and upgrading that just seems like it would be a lot less work. Not to mention I have several friends pushing way over 20 psi with bigger turbo swaps, good tune, etc. your gonna spend time and money just to get to a point that would be much easier to reach if you just bought an s4. If that makes sense

Its not that hard, the 2.8 heads will be nicer. But the s4 harness will go in, youll need to tap a map sensor, get sensors, and a few other thing the s4 harness has. Masetro will accomapny this and more and be able to tune it, the stock ecu wont be able to pull timing and adjust fuel near enough to run somehtign this extreme.

Since I already have the S4 block, what do you think the cost to get all of the extra parts you stated would be?

jonbonesjones Jan 15, 2013 12:30 PM

DO you already have the charger?

harness - 100
ECU - 100-200
sensors - 100

Maestro - 800

a shit ton of power = priceless :D

Yeah the PES Charger is already in the car, it's on the 2.8 right now, not pushing as much boost as I'd like to be. But hey that's why I am doing this. Any chance you can toss me some links for some of the stuff? Only thing I'm nervous about is after I put all this into the car, I hope everything else will hold up :p
