Default 2.8 coil pack

Can someone please tell me if that little black rectangle on the end of the ground wire coming off of the coil pack wiring harness is critical or not? I broke it...can I just rig the ground wire to the coil pack w/o it? Thanks....

IIRC, that's a capacitor. 2.2uF I think, and yes it's there for a reason.

It's there to reduce RF interference IIRC, you might hear a whining sound from your speakers that changes with engine RPM. I broke mine but I just soldered on one from a random distributor I had lying around.

Ok, thanks people. Is it safe to drive w/o it for a while until I can replace it? This RF signal won't damage anything, it may just cause an annoying whine in my speakers? Thanks.

I tried wiring it to the coil pack w/o the gizmo on the end and it kept blowing my #29 ECU fuse, so I stopped doing that...running w/o it for now, seems to run fine...
