2.8Q Mods
Hello. I was strongly considering purchasing a 2001 2.8 A4 and was just wondering about the possible modifications for the car. Could anyone tell me what are the basic mods (filter, maf, etc) that i could do and approx cost and gains? I had a 95mustang gts but i modded it soo much the fuel economy was rediculous and it wasnt worth keeping. i just want an a4 that will be reliable and quick. also i hear that the paint is thin and scratches easy. any comments? how much would a new paint job cost? thanks all.</P>

if you are looking for an Audi to mod, then buy the 1.8t. You can mod that crap out of that and get way more hp (for less $) than with the 2.8.
Basically all you have for a 2.8 is exhaust, a chip ($500 expensive for a measly 10hp) and maybe an intake system... that doesn't give you much... the only alternative for the 2.8 is a $3500 supercharger system - mind you the car would kick *** then.
Now the 1.8t gets about 50hp off a $500 chip, you can add exhaust, intake, larger turbo, injectors, front mounted intercooler, 5 bar FPR... all for impact to performance.
the possibilites of a 1.8t are nearly endless.
The paint job is kinda soft - but if you take care of it, it will last. Mine is 5 years old and don't really need a paint job (even though I'd like one) - it still gleams and you only notice the problems close up.<edited><editID>brrman</editID><editDate>38054.6806481481</editDate></edited>
