Default 2 issues need help. Radio and Skid plate

Skid plate, Should i keep on it? its been hanging off a little due to the previous owner bottoming out. not sure how to really keep it connected, other day i bottomed out on the snow at the end of my driveway, when i backed up a foot about a square foot ripped off..some sitll dangling.. Should i just take it off, replace it?or just leave it as it is.

Radio still isnt working at all. Stuck in safe mode. Tried to code 3 times from previous owner all nothing. Stays locked. Like one time i tried it it didnt give me the line for one error.. so tried it again and then it gave me the 2 bars at one time =( not sure how to get this delt with.. I have to book with the code

Let me know. Drove this in the snow the other day for the first time..its amazing, used to rear wheel drive so big difference. Was passing redneck trucks in 5inches of snow like it was my job.

You CAN run with no belly pan but i wouldn't recommend it, especially in NH in December. I wouldn't recommend leaving it on in its present state though either, it's only going to get more and more jacked up over the winter. If you want to replace it with a stock plastic one, you can try shokan.com or someone parting out their car in the classifieds, but absolutely don't go to the dealer, they will sodomize you in exchange for said belly pan.

As for the radio, did the previous owner explain to you HOW to enter the code? or just give you 4 numbers?

I looked at how to put the codes in online. thought i did it right but must be wrong. I bought it from a shitty dealership, needed work and i knew it but its good now. The radio was just messed up because the battery had to be replaced. as for the skid plate, if i find someoen parting out, what years will fit? only a4?but will like passat fit?

96-01.5 remained pretty much unchanged as far as i know, couldn't tell you about the passat. if you're planning on keeping the car a while you might look at getting one of these, definitely a worth-while upgrade.

As for the radio code, the numbers in your code correspond to the number of times you push the button, not the number on the button you push, make sense? The numbers in the 4 digit code correspond to the buttons 1-4 on your radio. So if your code is 3412, that means you need to push the [1] button three times, the [2] button 4 times, the [3] button once, and the [4] button twice. Get it?

If thats the way you entered your code and the radio STILL doesn't work, its possible that its just junk. :-\

yeah i know if gotten the code in right, then what do i hold down?i doubt its junk..would really suck though if it was blah. is it possible that the code has been changed? Not really sure just hate driving to college every single day with out a radio ha.

Yeah that skid plate is going to be something i will invest in if i keep this. Im just gonna finish the winter with it and see what else I can get. Might sell the mustang and audi upgrade to a new mustang, new audi or a brand new civic si. ( i only didnt get a new civic si before because i didnt know how to drive them ha)

^ x2 on the Panzer Plate...mine has taken some pretty good hits, and no worries. About the same cost of the crappy OEM one, easy to remove with Dzus fasteners, and will likely outlast your car. Tough enough that they just shipped it with a label taped on to it!

Its a pain in the *** to install initially - there is mounting of brackets involved.
Its a piece of cake to remove/reinstall when doing oil changes.
