2000 A4 quattro 1.8t Limp Mode
I've searched almost every possible thread on this. Here's my situation when I start the car it fires up fine put it in drive after first gear the tranny goes into limp mode, I stop turn off and restart the car, no more limp mode until I get going again. Here's what's been done to the car:
Rebuilt tranny
Rebuilt tcu
All this done following the wrong advice of a (reputable) mechanic who gave up and returned the car to me.
Here's the codes I'm getting from my obd2 scanner
P1118
P1114
P0140
Could any of those codes cause limp mode?
Between the unsuccessful mechanic and all the parts I'm over 3k smh. I'm in Orlando Fl if anyone is interested in helping or just buy the car from me. Thanks

P1114 post cat 02 sensor AKA the 2nd one from the turbo
P0140 - 02 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
Reverse is fine, even in limp mode. Also if I try to use manual mode is the same result. I also checked the magnets on the shifter.
If those are your only codes, then you should fix your O2 sensor. Don't bother with the post cat at this point, it doesn't affect the car at all. The post cat just ensures that the cat is working properly, but won't affect performance.
I read somewhere that some aftermarket O2 sensors are missing a component (can't remember exactly what, or where I read this), so I would recommend buying straight from dealer to avoid any complications. Shouldn't be very expensive, though they are a bit of a bitch to get out.

Well still in limp, now I did noticed that when I rev the car I can hear kind of a winding sound. I wonder if the shop just did not put enough tranny fluid in. Let's say the tranny was low a quart or 2, that could be the problem?
Is your car manual or automatic? I don't know how many quarts are supposed to be in auto, but with manual there should be just under 3 quarts. So if you are low a Quart or 2.... You need to fill that up before you tear your tranny apart!
But yes, I agree with Swim that low tranny fluid wouldn't cause the car to go into limp mode...
What codes do you have right now?
