2000 Audi A4 advant 1.8 . Camshaft sensor problem
Hi all . I have a 2000 Audi A4 1.8 petrol non turbo. The car had a big stutter on revs and was throwing the cam sensor code up plus a running rich and a 02 sensor code . I replaced the cam sensor yesaday and cleared codes . Now it revs as normal but keeps stalling on idle straight away . Still showing a fault sensor code aswell ??. Any help will be greatfully received thx
. I am gonna refit the old sensor to see if it returns to it old state . . Is it common to purchase a fault sensor? Or could they of passed me a wrong one . For turbo model ect ?

Update . Reinstalled old sensor but the car is still acting totally the same . Any ideas? . Before I changed the sensor it ticked over fine . Now it's totally as it was before part wise . But as soon as I let go ov acceleration it dies . ??
Is the EPC light in the dash on when you start the car? What is the tac doing when you crank? Quite often it is the crank position sensor that is going when you get the cam position sensor code. Just had this happen to a B5. Changed cam position sensor and still died. Changed crank position sensor and worked. Swapped old cam position sensor back in and it still worked great. Returned cam position sensor to the store.
20 min or less. It is one bolt. The sensor is located on the driver’s side where the transmission meets the engine at about 3 o’clock. It is significantly cheaper than the cam sensor. You may need a mirror to see where the bolt is but should pop out once you undo the bolt. The wire connector is on the firewall. Grey connector.
Possibly. Only one way to find out. You can get them in Canada and US for $10. If it doesn’t fix it, return it. It may be two unrelated issues but when crank position sensors go, it has been known to make cars stall when they come to a stop or make it hard to start. Once it goes, it will cause a no start issue.
