2001 1.8t special edition, ko3?
A kid that I know at school wants to sell me his 2001 a4 1.8t special edition at 65kmi for 7gs not bad but he says that the special edition comes with the s4 suspension and a ko3 sport turbo that runs at 14psi stock. Is this true?
From what I understand the 1.8T badge should have a T with some red on it. It is tru that the Turbo is a K03s or Sport turbo. In 2001 the 1.8T motor got variable cam timing(I'm not sure if it was on the intake or exhaust side, or both) and does run more boost than other years. I don't think it was 14PSI though. I also don't think it got S4 suspension, but it probably has sport suspension. Just make sure if you buy the car, that you change the timing belt soon or else the timing belt might break and cause major damage to the cylinder head and the pistons. It's recomended that you change the belt at around 70k miles.
It will be a K03s turbo (170bhp standard) which with a remap it will run around 14-15psi (approx 210-220bhp mapped) but not with stock mapping so maybe it's mapped and that’s what he means.
The Suspension will be Sport shock and springs (20mm lower than none sport suspension and not S4 shocks) which are red to look at and are the same colour on the S4 but not the same part number.
I would say your mate does not really know much about his car and spend very little to no time on forums to understand the car.

what??? I have two 01's with the red badge next to the t. They are both de-baddged now. They ran the stock boost of ~9-~11psi. What are you guys talking about? Itshould have the ko3s on it stock. The sport package should have the red shocks on it and the upgraded 17" rims. It does have variable valve timing on the cams, due to the cam chain tensioner in the back of the head that pulls or lossens the chain. The only way it would run more boost is if it was modded by chip or mbc.

The 2001 1.8t ran .8 bar stock which is 11.6 psi. The chips on the market for the 2001 bump the boost to anything from 1 bar to 1.25 bar.
that guy is full of s hit. There is no such thing as a special edition A4, and it certainly diddn't come stock from the factory with the S4 suspension. The red flag after the T is for the 2001 model year, and the 1.8T comes with 170hp.
He's from Australia so like us in the UK he may have got different thing from you and I. Take the fact that they could get a 1.8 NA A4 Quattro which was never available here in Europe or the US. Another example is that we did not get Quattro till the face lift yet you guy in the US got them before us go figure that!!!

It's called stating facts. You know what that is?
