2001 A4 1.8T Quattro
So I have read and researched and read the awesome "newbie A4" write up in the stickies, but I really kinda just want some opinions
I have about a 45min commute to work, I work for Aerospace Testing Alliance at Arnold Air force Base(completely irrelevant) and right now I am driving my 98 4runner with a lift and big wheels and tires, needless to say I am get like 15 or 16 mpg HIGHWAY, so being the nerd engineer I did all the math and I can pay for gas and a car payment on just what I am spending on gas in my 4runner, so now we get to the point... I want an AWD in some way shape or form, and I really want this 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro that I have ran across, it's main down fall is that it has 96K on it but I think I can get the guy down to $6000 for it, it will see 80% highway driving, I am pretty mechanically inclined so DIY jobs are no problem, and I make decent money and my girl make better than me, pretty much what I'm asking is if I get this thing for a fun little commuter is it break me and or break on me? hit me with some opinions

if its well taken care of then all you have to keep up with is common maintenance. The problem is if something major breaks, audi's are a little more expensive to repair then other manufacturers.
if it's in good shape though, it will be a fun commuter car and should get about 30 mpg on the highway. if you chip your car, u can enjoy 200-210 hp instead of 170 hp stock. with the chip u also get a couple extra mpg on the freeway, only if your not gasin' it

You forgot the extra full coverage you have to add to the car since you will have a loan on it :P
But 96k isn't anything I would be worried about as long as the timing belt and other maintenance has been taken care of.

1999 1.8t.. with 127k on it.. runs really strong.. like they all said keep up with maintenance as it presents itself and you should be fine.. get ahold of a Bentley Manual and maybe try and find a guy who specializes in Audi/VW so incase you come across something and youre not sure what it is, they can help you out.. my mechanic has been a true life saver
