Default 2001 a4 avant headlight adjustment

Hello,
I'm the owner of a 2001 a4 avant 1.8tq with about 115,000 miles on it. My problem is with the headlights----the high beam is too high, the low beam is too low. I tried to adjust the beams via the screws on top of the headlights and the adjuster moves both lights (hi and low) at the same time. When I move the hi to where it's effective, the low is pointed about 5 feet in front of the car. When I move the low up so it's correct, the hi is in the trees. Is there a way to adjust the hi and low independently?

Any help much appreciated. Please feel free to email me directly (shockts@yahoo.com). Thank you,
tom

Um, the High beam is built into the same bulb as the low beam. Your car is normal. So is mine with the same condition. It's annoying.

Anyone care to disagree?

(Ok, enough Trolling)

I dunno what causes this, I've often wondered myself why the low and high beams seem to be so different in their approach

It's possible i'm missing something very obvious but my car has two lights per side (4 total). The low beam is a cat-eye looking light and the high is a standard halogen. There appears to be only one adjustment that controls both of them and i'm looking for a way to move them independently. Any tips greatly appreciated.

I'm new to these forums so not sure if I committed a foul by adding my email in the first message. Is that called 'trolling'?

Thanks much,
tom
