96 a4 quattro cranks but won't start can anybody help me

So I was driving home and I down shifted in to fourth and when I released the clutch and gave it gas it started stuttering and hand no pick up than when I ggot home and let it idle it was dropping down and than back up. New to Audi so not sure where to begin.

check engine lights. the dash light that comes on when something goes wrong. usually the first place to start because it give you a place to start finding how/what went wrong.

With the key in the on position yes the check engine and oil n temp light are on, one of them blinks but its not the check engine light

but no lights are on when the car is actually running?

no lights were on when it was running, i cant get it to start to see if their are any on now.

does it just turn over and over? or does it not even crank?


could be some sort of horrendous vacuum leak. Have you popped the hood to check for any loose connections with the vacuum lines?
could also be a crank position sensor.

My flex pipe has a hole in it would that mess with it.
