Thats called the prop shaft seal, and no its not that hard to replace. You just take off the prop shaft from the trans. Buy new bolts because those are a stretch design and have to be replaced. Now pull off the flange that bolts to the trans by removing the large torx in the middle of the flange. Now that thats pulled out gear oil will leak out. Pry out the seal with a pry bar or screw driver CAREFULLY! Then just tap in the new seal until its flush. Put it back together and top off the gear fluid. Not transmission fluid.

Ahhh crap. Little worried now... When I thought my rear seal was leaking we just put the bolts back in with some threadlock. My buddy was very afraid of the removing the shaft because there was warnings and the Bently called for useless re-calibration junk for the shaft that would cost $$$.
