Default -98 1.8T can only idle?

Hello and greetings from Sweden!

I have a problem with my brothers A4 and in desperate need of help!

The thing is that after the battery went dead, and now the car will idle for a couple of seconds and then it dies. Once it reaches a higher temperature, the time that it is able to idle increses slightly, but it will still cutout after about 30 sec.

Video: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-Xc...lPSnRCdDQ/edit

As soon as i touch the gaspedal, it dies.
I replaced the fuelfilter, but it did not help.
I have checked all the sparkplugs, fuelinjectors, MAF but no success!

I have noticed that if i remove the vaccumhose between the manifold and the fuelpressure regulator, the idlespeed increeses and it becomes more stable.

There is some kind of K-line issue that prevents me from accessing it and read errorcodes. I have about 3.14V out of the K-line. As far as i am aware, thats a good sign. Right?

I hooked up a vaccumgauge today, and it showed -0.6 Bar at idle speed.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?!

Thank you!

probably just need to adapt the throttle body by turning the key to the "on" position and listen to the throttle hum. once the humming ends, try starting the car. if it still doesnt run right, you will probably need to align the throttle with vagcom

Have you tried running the car without the maf?

Yeah, i have tried that, and it alignes properly asfar as i can see.
But the VAGCOM thing might be a problem thanks the K-line issue, right?

I do get a "partial" connection, but it is unable to access the ECU.
Tried the same thing on a A3 -97, and it worked like a charm...

Have you checked your fuel pressure?

Thank you!

this tells me its an electrical or sensor issue, but yur video suggests something else. id look at fuel pressure, ignition control module.

but first i'd like you to reset the ecu by removing power from it for a few minutes. just unplug the battery for 10 minutes. you may need a radio code for this.

if that dont do it, id check fuel pressure. youll need to splice a guage into the fuel line and i believe it should be 4 bar.

another question. if you acuate the throttle body, will it stay running?

Thank you! I will try this today!
I'll go and get a pressure gauge right away and splice it in!

What do you mean by "if you acuate the throttle body, will it stay running?"

I have tried messuring the pressure, but my results are sort of inconclusive! Where am i supposed to messure? I tried the incoming line to the fuelrail and get different results ever y time. It seems as if the pumps pressure is incresing each time i turn on the ignition... I would like to messure while the engine is running. But how?!

Thanks!
