So I recently bought a German spec 1998 Audi A4 1.8 non turbo(USAF stationed in Germany). I noticed that when I turn on the car the rpms immediately drop down to around 600-400 rpms and idles very rough before it dies. This happens about 4-5 more times before it finally stays on. Unfortunately it continues to idle rough(600-900rpms). I tried unplugging the MAF sensor and it ran fine. So I replaced the MAF sensor only to find out that it is still having the same problem. It smells like the car is running rich. Sometimes while I' am driving, the car will start to slow down on its own. When this happens, I have to mash down on the gas pedal to keep it from slowing down significantly. I' am waiting on my OBDII scan tool in order to see if i can get any codes that might help me solve this problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
