honestly man what i would do is go ahead drop some cash and get yourself into an aftermarket radio and speakers all around for a # of reasons. 1 your subs will sound so much louder and cleaner, 2 your door speakers will be alot cleaner and better, 3 bose stuff will cost a fortune and are not really that great. nothin close to aftermarket speakers.

you want to explain a little more on the wrong or you just goin to keep it at that.

 

its all about sound, i dont know what you hear...but i have the bose system and it sounds great. i am a fanatic about sound...and the bose system is no crap system

 

I've explained it like 5 times in the past 2 weeks... but here goes again.

I had alpine SPX-137r's in my doors... they retail at 440USD on alpines website -- 5.25's.
They sounded great -- high's especially! Their crossover is probably one of the better ones out there.

Anyways, I bought an S4 interior, it came with door skins, which came with stock bose speakers. Out of laziness, I isntalled the door skins with the stock Bose, and turned on the stereo. My alpines are for sale, if anybody wants them.

The stock bose are being fed by my JL 450/4, and seriously kick ***. WAY more mid-bass than the alpines -- though the highs arent as good obviously, because they have no network.

Even before I had the bose though, I always told people not to upgrade speakers if they had bose... I told them to upgrade amps. Nothing is going to sound stellar stock, because they are getting hardly any power... stock bose amp prolly gives them 25 - 40 watts RMS... my amp gives them 150RMS. They seriously sound amazing -- and my alpines are seriously going up for sale.

 

im new to car stereos...how do you wire your speakers to the new amp? do you have to wire each speaker...or is there existing wire....is that box in the trunk an amp and wires going to that i can just plug into a new amp?

 

You have bose now? If you have bose now, you have to re-wire the whole car... not a GIANT deal, but a bit of a PITA.

Or at least that is the information I was given... I dont have a Bose car... so my wiring was for the symphony HU.

 

I work for a stereo shop and have never heard a bose sytem that sounded better then aftermarket. you take the bose out and put in jl components you will be amazed especially if you have that huge jl amp. trust me on this one.

 

Bose amplified are on par with XR's... accept for the highs. I plan on looking into a crossover for the bose which will help the highs dramatically.

And if your saying XR's are so much nicer than the bose, running off the same amp, then I am willing to wager that you've never heard the bose running off a good amp.

I got to hear the ZR's last week, and THEY are nicer than the bose, but at a pretty penny.

 

yeah the zrs are the **** but it is all about sepeartion that the bose can't offer. i have heard the bose stuff like i said. the xrs kill them on highs and are the same on bass making the xr sound better. the xrs seperation is incredible. next time you listen to a set of jl close your eyes and it will be like the band is right there in front of you.
