'99.5 A4 vs '00 '01 A4
I wanted to get everyones opinion on the differences on the '99.5 and the '00 -'01 A4's. What I like about the '99.5 would be the power potentional and the ease of getting the power. What I don't like is the interior. I hate the single din cassette radio. I know I can get an aftermarket one, but would rather have a stock one just in case someone wants to steal it from my car. I hate the 4 spoke steering wheel. I know I can get the 3 spoke one, but that would just be another cost. I also don't like the instrument cluster. '00 - '01, I like the 3 spoke steering wheel the most of them seem to have. I like the double din CD player radio. I like the intrument cluster as well. What I don't like is the limitation of power from the cylinder head and intake manifold. I also prefer throttle cable over drive-by-wire as well. Well if some of you A4 owners can chime in with your opinions that would be great.
You have to be honest with yourself in how much work you plan on putting into the car.
The '01 is going to have easier, cheaper power potential to a limited point. If you want to go bigger, a head swap isn't the biggest deal in the world. I enjoy every bit of my '01, and every change that has been made since '99.5, but I do occasionally wish I would have bought a '99.5 and dumped the remaining money on coilovers (or now, bags).

01's come with the k03s that's why were up at 170hp stock. And if you already have yourself a racecar I don't think you'll need to be squeezing out every ounce of hp from a 1.8t as I figured out 1.8t's are just as expensive as 2.7's so if you want a speed machine go with a S4. If you want to get from point A to point B in a sporty luxurious compact the 01 A4's are good. But I thought the 99.5's had all the interior advantages of 01's and the engine remained the same as <99's? Unless I'm wrong research it a little more
