Question 99 A4 quattro. Need Help

Hey guys, I am new to this forum. Well i have a 99 a4 2.8 AWD quattro 5 speed. I was wondering if use can help me out. You start the car and let the clutch out there is nothing there. While it is running and the clutch is out you can shift right through the gears with no grinding at all. Could a blown clutch do this? Synchro? Please help so i can fix this car. I am buying it off my neigbor and that is how he got it, So he knows nothing about it. But if it is going to ost a arm and a leg to fix i am not going to buy it.

Thank You,
Gary

its your clutch. the clutch disc probably snapped. oem clutch kit roughly 300$, have a shop do it roughly 500$, have a dealer do it roughly one arm, and some toes

Does the pedal still have some resistance when you push it and return to the top when you release it?

I would start checking all of the axles/driveshaft first to make sure nothing is broken.

Mike, i just said the hell with it and ripped the tranny out, The clutch was blown to peices, Throw out bearing was smoked. 111xxx miles and i am almost positive it is factory clutch. Soon as i took the starter off, stuf was falling out, Taking the pressure plate off today.

Yeah if the material completely came off the disk it would be the issue since nothing would there to transfer the power to the input shaft.

If you need a clutch let me know.
