'99 wood trim sucks, so I made it go away...
Thanks a lot everybody - I loved it and was happy with the results no matter what, but it's nice to hear the approval of everyone who chimed in - makes it even more fun to mod when others appreciate the results
What!!!!!!![
] why would you take the wood off. It shows everyone in your car that your are of high esteem and a fancy nature... you should have helped the wood look and thrown on some 22" wood wheels! how dare you defy the Audi engineers. When i go to buy a semi-exoctic sport sedan like an Audi i would hope and expect to find some damn wood inside it!!!

trust me oettinger, u wouldnt' ahve wanted his wood trim. it looks just like a piece of plain wood tinted a cherry color. it looked cheap lol. now if he had the glossy wood he wouldnt' have done wut he has.
Looks like it came out good (I guess....). Anything is better than the wood trim.
My gosh, please throw your camera away. Its not even worth posting those, I can imagine what it came out like better than those pictures you posted. At least have a buddy or GF or someone snap some decent pictures, those are worthless.
Glad to hear it was not too bad taking all that apart!

Here's some more pics that show it a lot better. I took them this morning around 6:30 when I was leaving for work. It was still dark enough out that my POS camera didn't artificially get overrun by glare. This shows much more what it really looks like.

It looks good, but those pictures still are not good res.
If you can have someone else snap a few for you sometime and post, that would be awesome!
Still, itlooks good, I especially like the center console.

Yeah, I know they're not high-resolution (like I said though, the camera is approaching 5 years old and is only 1.3mp), but they don't have the glare washout that the earlier pics had. The main thing I wanted to achieve from them was to show the difference the paintwork makes. Hopefully I will get ahold of a better camera soon, but at the same time I don't want to bludgeon the topic to death - I painted some plastic wood, after all. It's not like I swapped an NSX motor into the car lol.
It definitely looks good. I dont know what you mean by the matte finish of the pre 99.5's though? The wood grain on my 96 looked awesome and definitely wasn't matte, and seemed to be the same as the trim on a few of the S4's I drove before getting mine....
and yes, through your camera away.

My wood finish was nothing like the S4 has. I'm not sure why. If you look farther up the thread, the post I made in response to Sineo includes a picture of my interior the way it was. The wood looked like something in a 1980s Buick.
