When*you*talk*like*this*it*makes*it*seem*like*you' re*stuttering*and*people*will*think*you're*weird.

Don't buy a modded car unless you're 100% confident in whoever did those mods, because chances are there's a bunch of things that were done by someone who had no business there. I've seen some ****, and because of that **** I'll only ever buy 100% bone stock cars, I'd rather spend thousands in mods instead of thousands in fixing someone's mistakes and laziness.

Please type like a normal person.
Anyways have 193k on the original turbo and going strong, if an a4 is well taken care of with regular synthetic oil changes and other maintanence they will last a very long time, if I remember correctly there's a guy on the 'zine with 397k on his. But you have to keep up with maintanence

+1, but I'll add that my 2001 1.8 turbo has 162, 000 miles on it and runs great!!!! *but*the*previous*owner*didn't*mod*it

I'm going to jump in here, I DID buy a modded car. my car when I bought it had a full catback exhaust, k&n air filter, and a stage 2 chip. I have 193k on mine and it runs like a dream. So I'm gunna go ahead and disagree with the others here but what I will say is don't buy a modified vehicle if it looks like it was done improperly especially with a heavly modified car.

The problem is you won't see anything done improperly until you tear into it, at which point it'll be too late. I'm not saying all modded cars are trash, but you're taking a massive risk.

But then again I like to play it safe, if I saw a car 100% identical to mine for sale I would pass, even though it's reliable and hasn't given me issues in a while.

Your correct you have to be more careful, but in my case the owner followed the Audi scheduled maintanence until he sold it by an authorized dealer, also i have his receipts of full synthetic oil changes every 2500 (yes 2500) miles by a trusted garage in town. So for the most part, don't buy a modded car, but if you do be careful

By modded I meant different intercooler, bigger spool, things like that. I have a cat back on my 2.8 and I don't consider that a mod lol.

MadCow makes an excellent point in saying that you just don't know what you're getting yourself into. You'll never know the car as intimately as the person who modded it. Which is why I +1'd him. It may be a great car, but you might find yourself in a sinkhole too. The question is: "DO I roll the dice, or not"
