A4 1.8T ticking
Hello everyone! I have a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T and I have a problem. Last week a pretty big dip in Denvers shitty a** roads cracked the oil pan. I stopped driving parked it got it towed home. Pulled the pan off ( stupidest design ever ) and everything looked good, cleaned off the pump intake screen etc... So I filled it back up started it and its got a decently loud ticking coming from the head area. I know that it is very very possibly the lifters or somethings screwed in the head but I was looking for any other possible ideas you guys might have on what it could be. I have read the cam tensioner and the sluge issue they have, however due to the dip and impact I have a feeling that might not be it. You guys have any ideas? thanks in advance.

Its making both. Its been making the diesel for about a week or two now, but I don't drive the car very much my roomate mainly drives it....dumba**... and I was just informed of this last night...And it is also making the ticking from the back of the headish area. Is there anyway to know if the cam chain tensioner is bad without any major work. I am willing to do all the work on it myself and with the help of my buddy but I don't wanna do unessary work!!! lol
Thanks again

If it sounds like this, then it's probably the cam chain tensioner.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIhKX...eature=related
Mine just went up about a week ago, I'm replacing it soon. How is your oil pressure?

That sounds pretty freakin close to mine but the one on the video is a faster clicking a little bit. I'll try and get a youtube video up here in a little bit but I'm hoping thats it. The oil pressure is good for the 30 seconds I let the car run but past that idk
