Exclamation A4 1.8t ticking sound

Hi i have a 2001 a4 1.8t. Recently notice im having this weird ticking noise coming from the engine. Happens only when engine gets warm. I researched about but did not get a defibite answer. Is this caused by a bad cam chain tensioner? Need heavier oil weight? No clue whats going on. Oh also no codes. Heres's a link of the video so you all can hear the sound. Thanks in advance.

I can't listen to the video because the computer I'm doesn't have any speakers and I don't have head phones. If it's a light, rythmic tick that goes away under load then that's the classic Audi valve tick and it's no big deal.

Kinda sounds like the golf tdi engine tick. Thats what im hoping for just the classic ticking and not something bad

I finally listened to the video and that's ******* awful. That's not factory valve tick, something in there isn't right. Personally I probably would try not drive it if I didn't have to.

What weight oil do you have in it and how much do you have? This could potentially be a problem of low oil flow causing excess friction.

So how soon after reaching operating temp does it start to tick like that? You could try switching to 10w-30 and see what happens.
