Default Springs?? or Coilovers?? Help!

Ok so i love my audi and all but i would really like to have it lowered at least 1.5'' front and rear... so i almost bought some neuspeed springs the other day until i called a performance shop that specializes in audi / vw and they said that springs is cool and all but they will ruin your shocks in about 20k miles after you install them. So then i asked them what can i do and they said get coilovers and that coilovers last longer... so yea i know you get what you pay for but i just want to ask if coilovers are really worth it... and if so which ones are good and affordable?? i dont want a super stiff ride or anything so if you know of a good coilover then please let me know. Any advice will help! Thanks

Best coilover for the money seems to be the ST coilovers. $750ish i believe

The cheapest NEW coilovers you'll find on the market. Not sure about the ride quality. Most people have said they're alright or that they suck. Search the forum for raceland coilvers and you'll find a thread on them started a couple months ago

You'll also (generally speaking) get better ride quality out of coil overs as opposed to just springs. I'm running Neuspeed race springs on OEM sport shocks and the ride is kinda bouncy.

ST rides and handles very nicely. Personally, unless you have a real reason for needing coils (you honestly are going to be changing ride height for various things, or you want to put the frame half an inch off the ground) get springs and struts. Wearing the struts out, eh. I know guys who have run years with springs on stock struts with no issues.

i just put coils on mine and they i am happy with results. HAndling is amazing, i think coils would be a better investment than springs. you can tune them to your liking

Yeah, you'll need struts to go with lowering springs if you decide to go that route.

I'd suggest coilovers. Going low is like an addiction. You can never be too low unless you're a girl and have an uninstalled exhaust in your trunk with a screen name of CCA4. Like they said, I think ST is one of the best bang for the buck right now. They're made by KW.
