Howdy

I have a 98 A4 2.8. Cruise gave up the ghost. Can anyone tell me how to diagnose, best place to buy parts? I plan to fix myself if possible. I'm a quarter german. Also, it has a high pitched squeal upon start up. Not belt. Squeals every time car starts and then dependably stops after a couple of minutes. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

 

Probably the cruise control module, its behind the glove box.

How is a squeal noise not a belt? Get some silicone spray or WD-40 and spray all the pulleys on the serpintine belt set up, and see if the noise goes away. If not, check for exhaust leaks.
