I have a 1999.5 A4 Quattro Automatic.Ever since I owned the car every now and again ill be randomly driving the car and "bam".Bam being a complete understatement the car acts like it was thrown into park all at once and it locks up.No tire squeal or anything it sort of feels like a car feels thats about to stall except at any speed.Safe to say its very unnerving and scary to drive like this.
Now when the car does this I can hear an audible click of some under dash relay.Also the light on the shifter that tells you to put your foot on the brake will illuminate with the relay.Once I do hear the relay click itll act just like I say and feel like it was thrown into park and very violently jerk and slow down.
I have searched the internet for countless hours for similar symptoms but I have yet to find anything even close to what im experiencing.Im lost I dont know where to look next.Please help!!Also it has been scanned and nothing comes up on Vag Com.

 

Does all the juice go dead when it happens?

1. Ignition switch
2. Bad ground

Sure wish you could get some VAG-COM codes on that. I wonder if the Tranny module is showing anything funny as if it thinks you're putting the shifter into park while you are driving.
