Abs+Flashing Brake light=Module related question?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone can steer me towards the right direction. Recently I started getting the Abs light along with Flashing Brake light, it is not consistent and it comes on and goes off randomly. (could be other issues like abs sensor but I'm leaning towards the module)
After doing some search i came across that its the Module itself thats attached to the side of Abs, As i look for replacement i was wondering how much of the last letter of the pump number matters? I called dealership, they wanted $800 for replacement module+pump. I found some NEW Bosch ones online for less than half of that price. but my issue is last letters..
mine is 8E0614111B (dealer told me i can use one ending with F)
Online there are 8E0614111E, 8E0614111AJ, 8E0614111Q Which include the pump and module together
Do any of you know if i can just buy any of them and just use its Module part of it (i don't plan on replacing the pump) and would it even work with my 8E0614111B ? Do i need to Vag-Com program it afterwards or am i just creating more of a mess lol?
Thanks a lot

You need to read your codes with VCDS Lite ($99), and also there is a reset procedure with VCDS which solved my problem. If the module is truly bad, you can pull it and send it out for rebuild for $150 or less. It is hard to get to, i had to drill a hole in the fender well to get at one of the screws holding it on, but that was on a B6.
thanks for the reply guys, I think i have the VCDS program but its the free version i wonder if that will pull up the code. My brother has the b6 I'm not sure how tough it is to get to it on those but for my b5 i don't think its hard at all, probably remove the fender rain guard and go that way and get the washer fluid reservoir out of the way..
As far as the light goes, yes at random (not very often) the Abs will come on along with flashing Brake light, it goes away on its own while driving and or when i restart the car.
honestly i found such great deal on the new ones ($94 for module and pump new, and other seller $179 New module only) thats why i would have rather put in new one but my main concern was the last letter of the part number and how it will match with mine.. Mine ends with B and these are AJ and E and Q .. thats what confuses me, seller says the letter doesn't matter but dealer said it did

With the letters are hard to say. I believe the letters are just later and later versions of the same part that all still fit, but occasionally the letters mean a part different enough that it doesn't fit. Honestly I would check a few places and see what they all say and hope there's a consensus. Email, call, live chat, etc with people to see what they say. Dealerships generally know the best, but may also try to sell you the most expensive item. I've heard of people emailing Audi directly and getting responses to random questions like this.
Armenian, you are going to need to pull codes and do abs module resets before you can go any further. or, just start changing parts. TG, how do you check/test abs ends at the hub? what exactly are you looking for from your test?
They must've started charging for LITE, because mine was free when I downloaded it. That was a couple years ago though.
