Abs light staying on need help

I have a 2001 Audi a4 1.8t and the abs light is staying on but seems like the brakes are working fine

Any help?

Thanks Rick

module... is the brake light on as well?

Brautty 01-07-2012 09:15 PM

Nope just abs

Sorry but what do you mean by module?

abs module

usually when the abs module goes bad the car will beep three times when started and the brake light will blink.

get it scanned. see if there are codes.

Possibly an abs sensor. Mine is bad on the front drivers side. My ABS and ASR light are on.. I know it's the sensor because it's all chewed up from the axle.

What does the sensor look like? And is it possible to clean?

Wheel Sensors...

The wheel sensors are pressed into the hub pointing towards the driveaxles. You will see a black wire running from under the car in the rear, or through the inner fender in the front. Some people have had luck using some brake cleaner to flush out around the cv joint, cleaning debris from the hole on the business side of the sensor but more than likely the sensor will need to be replaced.
When I got my 96 a few months back, both the ABS light and BRAKE light were on all the time due to bad wheel speed sensors.
I would first start with looking into VAG-COM to retrieve codes, so you are not chasing your tail..

Hope this helps :D
